Dezeen Showroom: US company Designtex has introduced the Wool Library collection, which offers a vibrant range of woven textiles.
Encompassing four new styles named Basket, Checker, Micro Tweed and Heather, the Wool Library collection features wool fibre textiles that come available in 190 colour options and are designed for “flexibility and impact”.

Manufactured in Italy, the fabrics are made from biodegradable wool fibre, which can also be recycled for reuse in new products, with the Basket, Checker and Micro Tweed textiles each containing 70 per cent of post-consumer recycled material from the fashion industry.
The Heather textile, which serves as a Designtex classic, features a soft fabric that has been recoloured and expanded to 60 colours.

“Designtex has a legacy of bringing hard wearing natural fibers to the market. One of our very first materials (60 some years ago) was a Mohair Velvet that is still in the line today and wool has long been a staple fiber in our offering and industry,” VP design at Designtex Catherine Stowell said.
“Wool is great because it’s natural and naturally hard wearing, thermoregulating, and renewable.”
