Ahead of Dezeen Awards’ annual party, taking place in London‘s Hackney Church on 26 November 2024, we’ve selected five events taking place in the city alongside the ceremony.
The World of Tim Burton, Off The Shelf Pavilion at Olympia, and Eye of the Storm are among the exhibitions open to visit in London during November.
Off The Shelf Pavilion at Olympia
14 September 2024 to 28 February 2025
Off The Shelf is an exhibition located at London’s Olympia cultural centre in Hammersmith, originally launched during London Design Festival 2024.
The pavilion was designed by artist Rio Kobayashi and engineering firm Webb Yates, responding to the centre’s architecture with references to traditional Japanese wooden homes.
While the pavilion is open, it is home to a programme of exhibitions, workshops and other fringe activities.
Eye of the Storm
21 September to 10 December 2024
Taking place at the Royal Academy of Arts, Eye of the Storm is a retrospective of British artist Sir Michael Craig-Martin‘s 60-year career.
The exhibition is comprised of a site-specific installation, sculptures and digital artwork exploring bright colours and everyday objects.
The World of Tim Burton
25 October 2024 to 21 April 2025
The World of Time Burton is a travelling exhibition featuring the work of the artist and film director, on display in London for the first and only time.
The exhibition spotlights installations, drawings, paintings, photography, video and sculptures, exploring the characters created by Burton.
Many of the pieces in the exhibition are from Burton’s personal archive.
Cockpit Winter Open Studios 2024
21 November to 1 December 2024
Hosted over the weekends before and after the Dezeen Awards party, creative studio space Cockpit hosts an open studios event, welcoming visitors to explore a variety of design and craft-based brands.
The studios are home to over 175 jewellery, ceramics, fashion and textiles makers, who will be displaying their projects over the weekends.
From 21 to 24 November, the Bloomsbury-based studios are opening their spaces, followed by the Deptford-based designers from 29 November to 1 December.
All Lit Up! by Anna Lomax
25 November 2024 to 5 January 2025
Artist and designer Anna Lomax has been commissioned to create this year’s Christmas tree installation at the V&A Museum, located in the gallery’s Dome.
The site-specific installation is made from lights, formed to resemble both a conifer tree and the columns found in the museum.
