Batmobile-inspired Renault Filante Record 2025 is the world’s most energy-efficient performance EV

This Renault concept gives off the classic Batmobile vibes from Tim Burton’s next box-office-breaking hit. Although there is no connection between the French automaker and Batman movies, still this concept prototype aiming to break all records for EV power consumption and range could make it to the big screen someday. Dubbed Renault Filante Record 2025, the performance EV derives inspiration from some of the best Renault vehicles all these decades.

The headlights of this long-nosed EV are based on the 1925 40 CV des Records, the overall stance is borrowed from the 1934 Nervasport des Records, and the fenders are a spitting image of the 1956 Etoile Filante. Measuring 201.5 inches from the tail to the nose, the car’s exterior bodyshell is designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. As per Sandeep Bhambra, Renault’s director of advanced design, the EV is a sculpture in motion, “inspired by fighter planes and the speed records of the nineteenth century, it reflects both performance and timeless elegance.” The vehicle is a true representation of the brand’s adventurous past and ongoing innovation.

Even though Filante Record 2025 looks bulky as hell, it’s just 2,204 pounds with the battery alone weighing 1,322 pounds. That means the dry weight is just 882 pounds thanks to the lightweight chassis crafted from aluminum, carbon, and steel alloys. Engineers at the factory have used a high-strength aluminum alloy called Scalmolloy for 3D printing the components of this car. On the inside, the EV is nothing short of breathtaking with a unique hammock-inspired driver’s seat that cocoons you in the cockpit, taking the shape of the body for maximum comfort and customized sitting experience. The aerospace-inspired design of the cabin flows down to the seat which is supported by carbon blades wrapped in textile.

In the bend position, all the driver inputs are controlled with the hands. Yes, the 3D-printed steering wheel has a sci-fi yoke design with protruding handles on each side to control the cruise control input, acceleration, and braking. Relying on both steering through steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire technologies, the EV further sheds curb weight as no mechanical components for steering input or braking are required. In the middle of this setup is a flexible and transparent panoramic screen that displays vital driving inputs and other parameters important for vehicle operation. Being attached to the protective cockpit bubble, the steering wheel automatically raises when the driver opens the door.

Renault has also crafted an air circulation system to keep the cabin well-ventilated without the need for the installation of an AC system to further reduce the weight. The blue hues turn to purple depending on the angle of viewing or the amount of light falling on the skin, giving the EV illusion of being in motion even when it is stationary. Renault Filante Record 2025 is all set to make its debut at the Rétromobile Motor Show in Paris scheduled from February 5th to 9th. The pursuit for efficiency and speed records will commence in Spring 2025 via wind tunnel testing, so we’ll hang on till then to bring more about this beastly electric car.
