Rolly by Mike & Maaike: a mobile table that moves around
Mike & Maaike present Rolly, a mobile table concept built entirely from four equal circular wooden components. The design explores geometric repetition and motion within a minimal structure.
The piece comprises three vertical circles functioning as wheels and one horizontal circle forming the tabletop. All four elements are identical in shape and size, establishing visual coherence and constructional simplicity. The table is capable of movement, with a swiveling rear wheel integrated to enable directional control, akin to the steering function of a rudder.

Rolly’s design merges mobility with furniture functionality
A steel frame connects the components and supports the pivoting mechanism, enabling the piece to function as both a serving cart and a display surface. The wheels and tabletop are constructed from solid Ash or multi-ply wood with an Ash veneer finish. The frame design is intentionally minimal, allowing the circles to remain the visual focus.
Studio Mike & Maaike applies surface graphics such as stripes and multiple color options to the circular components, enhancing their presence without interrupting the overall form. All fasteners are concealed, maintaining the clarity of the circular geometry. Rolly operates at the intersection of furniture and mobility, offering a hybrid typology that responds to both aesthetic and functional criteria through repetition and rotational motion.
