Even though I’m already in my mid 40-s, the past decade of my life has been all about sneakers. It’s more comfortable, I like most of the designs, and everywhere I go rarely has a dess code so it’s pretty convenient. Sometimes though when I’m going somewhere that needs to be a bit dressy, then I’ll wish that I had a pair of sneakers that’s not too sporty but with a bit of high fashion incorporated into its design.
Riccardo Tisci, the celebrated Italian designer known for his avant-garde aesthetics and transformative work with luxury houses, has once again teamed up with Nike to reimagine a classic silhouette. This time, the canvas for his creative vision is the iconic Nike Shox TL, resulting in a striking collection that perfectly embodies the fusion of high fashion and streetwear. Following rumors that circulated for over a year, the Riccardo Tisci x Nike Shox TL collaboration has finally been unveiled in Spring 2025. This highly anticipated release showcases Tisci’s signature bold style applied to the progressive and technically innovative Shox TL design.

The collection features three distinct colorways: a timeless Black/White, a clean White/Black, and an eye-catching Habanero Red/White. Each pair maintains the Shox TL’s fundamental look, characterized by its distinctive visible Shox cushioning system. However, Tisci elevates the design with luxurious materials and unique details. Upgraded materials play a significant role in this collaboration. Textured leather adorns the toe and heel, adding a touch of high-end sophistication. The mesh base layer features a custom, intricate lace-like pattern, providing a subtle yet distinctive detail. Co-branding is evident, with Tisci’s “RT” logo placed atop the tongue alongside the traditional Nike Shox branding.
Perhaps the most notable design element is the addition of a removable ankle cuff system. Attached via two rivets on the heel, this high ankle collar can be added or removed to drastically alter the look of the sneaker. The cuff mirrors the material choices of the shoe itself, featuring textured leather, mesh, and TPU overlays, complete with its own set of laces. Adding to the elevated feel, co-branded Nike and RT metallic silver charms are present on both the leather patch of the ankle attachment and the vamp. The design is finished with a tonal Shox TL midsole, maintaining the shoe’s signature aesthetic.
This collaboration is a testament to Riccardo Tisci’s ability to transform athletic staples into high fashion expressions.
