Bugatti brings Ettore-inspired Brouillard coupe to monterey
Bugatti releases Brouillard, a coupe that comes with a miniature, handcrafted glass sculpture of Ettore Bugatti’s horse inside the gearshift. The vehicle forms part of the manufacturer’s new program called Programme Solitaire, the company’s expansion that creates two personalized masterpiece cars per year. The first model is revealed before its official launch at the Monterey Car Week 2025, which runs between August 8th and 17th in California.
The Bugatti Brouillard coupe is a way to celebrate the favored horse of the company’s founder. The body of the vehicle, then, avoids sharp edges and instead uses smooth shapes and surface curves. These design elements try to copy the form of a horse’s body, as Ettore Bugatti viewed his horse as a symbol of power and proportion. The car’s lower part is made in darker tones, creating a visual effect that links it to the car’s shadow. The chassis, made from a mix of carbon fiber and aluminum, comes with a fixed ducktail wing at the rear for the vehicle’s aerodynamics.

Inside the car, the materials used to design the Ettore-inspired Bugatti Brouillard coupe come from various places, with custom-woven fabrics sourced from Paris incorporating tartan patterns. The green-tinted carbon fiber is paired with machined aluminum components, standing out through the natural light coming from the glass roof. The design choice helps create an airy, cathedral-like experience, while the center spine flows from exterior to interior, visible through the transparent panel above. To continue the homage to Ettore Bugatti’s horse, the animal’s motifs appear embroidered in the door panels and backrest seats.
These seats are customized and shaped to the owner’s preference, finished with a leather patch layout. An element to pay attention to is the gear shifter, machined from a single block of aluminum. It comes with a glass insert containing a miniature handcrafted sculpture of Ettore Bugatti’s favored horse and the Brouillard coupe’s namesake. For the design team, the vehicle is a work of automotive haute couture, a culmination of the manufacturer’s eye for design, attention to engineering, quality-chosen materials, and decades-long craftsmanship. The Bugatti Brouillard coupe, a homage to Ettore Bugatti’s favored horse, is set for an official unveiling during Monterey Car Week 2025 in California as the first project of the company’s new Programme Solitaire.
