salone del mobile 2026: what to expect from the biggest interior and furniture fair in milan

ANNUAL HIGHLIGHT OF INTERNATIONAL INTERIOR AND FURNITURE DESIGN

The countdown to the 64th edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano is officially on, set to transform the Rho Fiera Milano from April 21st to 26th, 2026. As the centerpiece of Milan Design Week, the fair hosts over 1,900 exhibitors from 32 countries across a completely sold-out 169,000 square meters of exhibition space. From kitchen and bathroom exhibitions to limited edition pieces, the fair is a highlight of international interior and furniture design. Beyond the traditional booths, the event serves as a strategic infrastructure that consolidates Milan’s role as the capital of contemporary design culture.

‘The strength of the Salone has always lain in its ability to act as a system: not just an event, but a cultural and economic infrastructure in constant transformation. An ecosystem – as confirmed by our work with the Politecnico di Milano – capable of producing widespread value, which translates into economic impact, but also critical thinking, urban regeneration, hospitality and new services,’ concludes Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano.

IN TANDEM WITH MILAN DESIGN WEEK

Deepening its tie with the city, the 2026 edition features an increasingly active synergy between the fairgrounds and the heart of Milan. The official opening will be marked by a concert at the Teatro alla Scala, while over 200 showrooms across the city will open their doors to the public. This edition also marks a strategic pivot with the launch of the Salone Contract project, a long-term initiative focused on hospitality, retail, and real estate. While its official exhibition debut is set for 2027, the 2026 edition teases this new direction with a dedicated lecture by Rem Koolhaas and an international forum developed in collaboration with OMA to explore the evolving ecosystem of integrated supplies and B2B networking.

SALONE DEL MOBILE’S PROGRAM IN 2026

The 2026 edition highlights the highly anticipated return of the biennial exhibitions EuroCucina (with FTK – Technology For the Kitchen) and the International Bathroom Exhibition. EuroCucina will explore the kitchen as a technological hub driven by AI integration and biophilic design, while the Bathroom exhibition focuses on home spa visions and longevity. Adding a new layer of exclusivity, Salone Raritas makes its debut in hall 11. Curated by Annalisa Rosso with exhibition design by Formafantasma, this atlas of collectible design showcases unique pieces and limited editions from 25 international galleries, including Nilufar and Salviati.

Rounding out the program is SaloneSatellite, which celebrates its 27th year by spotlighting skilled craftsmanship and innovation. Curated by Marva Griffin Wilshire, the platform will feature 700 designers under 35 and 23 international schools. The theme invites a rediscovery of craftsmanship as a bridge between manual heritage and technological vision, empowering a new generation to rethink making by hand as a cultural and political act for the future of global design.
