DAB Motors lights up the Future with its Tron-Inspired 80s Futurism Bike

DAB Thursday Experiment is a creative initiative by DAB Motors, where every Thursday, they publish a new design iteration. These new ideas push the boundaries of conventional motorcycle design as the intent is to merge art, fashion, design, and culture with the core engineering of electric motorcycles. Some experiments remain as conceptual visuals; others may influence actual production or limited-edition versions.

Their latest mockup is an eye-popping addition to the series that arrives just in time for the release of Tron: Ares. This version, dubbed Experiment 007: 80s Futurism, takes cues from the futuristic neon aesthetic of 1980s sci-fi movies, where digital interfaces and glowing grids shaped the era’s imagination. The design channels cinematic nostalgia through illuminated body lines, minimal geometry, and glowing color gradients reminiscent of Tron’s synthetic world. The concept draws further inspiration from the sleek metallic interiors of Drake’s private airplane, tying luxury cues into the cyberpunk theme.

Experiment 007 follows a growing archive of weekly concepts that reinterpret the brand’s electric motorcycle form in unexpected ways. The first in the line, Experiment 001: Bricks Bodywork, introduced a playful twist with pixelated panels resembling toy building blocks. It explored modularity in design, replacing fluid surfaces with rigid “brick” structures that reflected a new design language. The next in sequence, Experiment 002: High Heels, borrowed inspiration from fashion, sculpting the rear section and stance around the elegance and posture of a stiletto shoe. These experiments gave the motorcycles exaggerated personalities—bridging utilitarian machines with cultural expression.

Later editions moved toward thematic reinterpretations rather than structural reinventions. One week saw a Gulf-inspired racing livery, light blue and orange hues that honored motorsport heritage, while another transformed the minimal e-bike silhouette with industrial stainless finishes, highlighting the tactile rawness of metal. Each experiment draws influence from a new discipline, whether architecture, pop culture, or product design, forming a catalog of visual thought rather than commercial intent. The Thursday Experiment series operates like a weekly design playground where ideas move fast and boundaries blur. Every creation begins with a consistent electric foundation but diverges visually and emotionally, reflecting the freedom of digital craftsmanship. The process embodies experimentation over production, using 3D rendering and visual storytelling to communicate what electric motorcycles might look like in parallel design universes.

With Experiment 007, DAB revisits the cinematic optimism of the 1980s, when technology promised an exciting future, and reinterprets it through modern electric mobility. The result is not just a tribute to retro sci-fi, but a reflection of how design cycles back through decades of inspiration. As the series continues, each Thursday becomes a new opportunity to imagine what form motion, light, and culture might take next!
