DBEW award ceremony to explore global creative harmony at milan design week 2026

inaugural DBEW Award Ceremony at Milan design week 2026

What if the future of innovation is found in the shared wisdom between a mentor and their student? On April 21, the DBEW Award Ceremony arrives at the ADI Design Museum in Milan to celebrate the 2026 winners who are rethinking the boundaries of modern design. By bridging the philosophical depth of the East with the functional pragmatism of the West, these laureates imagine a harmonious coexistence of values essential for a sustainable future. This inaugural gathering invites the design community to join a celebration of 40 pioneering teams whose work explores how human-centric creativity can thrive in the era of artificial intelligence.

On April 21, the ADI Design Museum transforms into a celebration of possibility for the first-ever DBEW Award Ceremony. This debut accolade shines a light on the 2026 winners — comprising 10 primary award recipients and 30 Honorable Mention teams — who have emerged from a global pool of over 800 submissions. The event welcomes the creative community, allowing guests to meet the practitioners who are redefining the future of the landscape. It is a moment to exchange inspiration during Milan Design Week, celebrating those who propose new ways of thinking.

The gathering proposes an expansive venue for dialogue that extends far beyond the podium, anchored by the DBEW Award Ceremony and its accompanying forum. Here, the laureates take center stage to share their personal journeys and the experimental processes that led to their success. The physical awards themselves embody this spirit of renewal; handcrafted from Korean pine trees salvaged from forest fires, they rethink discarded materials as vessels of ‘new life’. This dialogue explores how human connection remains the ultimate catalyst for progress in an AI-driven world.

The award’s acclaim stems from its pursuit of a sustainable future where Eastern and Western values do not compete, but coexist. The DBEW Award Ceremony celebrates the culmination of over 20 years of research by the Oriental Culture & Design Center (OCDC), highlighting how convergent talents from 44 countries can thrive in a digital age. By elevating winners from diverse backgrounds — including those from regions facing geopolitical hardship — the platform opens a network that offers a rare glimpse into a future where design serves as a universal language of hope and solidarity.

The celebration continues at the ADI Design Museum, where the first 100 guests to arrive at the 10:00 AM opening will receive exclusive souvenirs crafted by a world-renowned designer. Attendees are also invited to enjoy complimentary access to the museum’s exhibitions, furthering the exchange of ideas that define the spirit of the day.
