Powerful Winners from the 2025 Standard Chartered Weather Photographer of the Year Awards

Winner: “The Gorgeous Ring” by Shuchang Dong, Geshuang Che

Celebrating its tenth year, the Standard Chartered Weather Photographer of the Year Awards continues to showcase awe-inspiring images that reveal the dramatic beauty of Earth’s atmosphere.

Organized by the Royal Meteorological Society, the competition highlights not only photographic skill but also the evolving story of our changing climate. The 2025 grand prize was awarded to Geshuang Chen and Shuchang Dong for their mesmerizing photo of a full circular rainbow over Lugu Lake, a rare and ethereal meteorological phenomenon. Other winning entries captured nature’s intensity — from blizzards and dust storms to electrified city skies — each frame rich with emotion and environmental urgency. These photographs serve as a powerful reminder that weather is not just scenery, but a reflection of our planet’s heartbeat and our shared responsibility to protect it.
