The World’s first Upper-Body Bike by Paweł Wawrzyński
Developed by the Polish innovation startup Ensavid, Shape-Me Bike introduces an alternative mode of outdoor mobility that integrates upper-body engagement into the cycling experience. Designed as a full-body training device, it diverges from traditional bicycles by using a pendulum-style mechanism to activate both upper and lower muscle groups.
The primary innovation lies in its saddle-free design and a drive bar operated by leg and upper-body coordination. Riders engage foam-padded support rollers with their thighs, transferring force through controlled motion. The forward swing of the bar activates muscle groups including the biceps, latissimus dorsi, and gluteals, while backward movement targets the triceps, pectorals, and abdominal muscles. The structure omits a traditional saddle, replacing it with ergonomic foam rollers to reduce pressure on the spine and support a more upright posture. This design responds to common issues associated with sedentary behavior, such as spinal stress and muscular imbalance.

Shape-Me Bike is Designed as a full-body training device
From a mechanical standpoint, Shape-Me Bike uses standard bicycle components, including chain drives, hubs, and gear systems, making the design accessible in terms of manufacturing, maintenance, and scalability. Multiple prototypes have been tested, with refinements focused on posture support, propulsion efficiency, and structural resilience.
The project, designed by Paweł Wawrzyński, is currently in the patenting phase, having received positive evaluations from both the Polish Patent Office and the International Searching Authority under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). As it moves into production, a crowdfunding campaign via Indiegogo is being launched to support further development and market introduction.
Shape-Me Bike redefines cycling with a full-body motion system
