Uncle Sam is an idealization of the United States: freedom, justice, equality, equity and public broadcasting. We should honor those freedoms … or we don’t deserve what they stand for.
Public media is more at risk now than it ever has been before.
Despite overwhelming public opposition, the House passed a rescissions package that would eliminate $1.1 billion in already-approved funding for public media. If enacted, it would strip essential services from communities nationwide—and could force rural stations off the air entirely.
The Senate could take up this rescissions package as early as next week. Now is the time to urge your representatives to remove the proposal targeting public media.
Senators and congressmen, heed the call! It is Independence Day! Be independent and vote against of the red/orange tide.
