You remember those corny novelty computer mice that looked like cars? The hood would be a two-part design with left and right clicks, and plugging the mouse in would make the car’s headlights and taillights glow? What was essentially a corny idea got turned into perhaps one of the most gorgeous mice my eyes have ever seen. Angry Miao’s AM Infinity Mouse draws inspiration from automobiles, but not just any automobile… It pulls design references from one of the most beautiful car concepts to ever exist – the Lotus Evanora.
Inspired by the Evanora’s uniquely voronoi-esque bodywork, the Infinity Mouse too sports an outer panel defined by a very skeletal aesthetic. The mouse’s design looks minimal in a way that really challenges the kind of ‘minimal’ you’d think of while looking at, say, a Magic Mouse. Here, minimal is interpreted as removing materials, not details – the result is a mouse that’s as gorgeous as the car it’s inspired by. But that’s not even its most interesting feature…
Designer: Angry Miao
The name Infinity Mouse comes from the gizmo’s most unique feature – its ‘infinity battery life’. Angry Miao claims the mouse can run forever, thanks to its hot swappable battery pack that lets you quickly interchange batteries while the mouse continues running, The skeletal design means no having to lift the mouse off the table and pull your AA battery out. Access the battery via the back, and replace it with a charged one… while the mouse still runs. Is it gimmicky? Probably, considering it isn’t really infinite battery if the battery just gets replaced… and a proprietary battery design isn’t the most innovative thing ever. That being said, the mouse still wins brownie points in the design department.
Engineered for peak performance, this ultra-lightweight 49-gram mouse features a chassis made from magneisum that provides exceptional durability, rigidity, and a premium feel. It’s equipped with a PAW3950 sensor, delivering an impressive 8K polling rate for unparalleled precision and responsiveness. The rechargeable battery is designed for convenience; its magnetic attachment allows for quick swaps with a backup battery, so you can stay in the game without being tethered to a charging cable.
Priced at approximately $158, the AM Infinity Mouse sits squarely in the premium segment of the gaming peripheral market. This price point reflects the innovative battery system, the high-end sensor, the lightweight metal construction, and the quality switches. It is a significant investment, if you’re a sucker for unique looking peripherals and mere RGB gear doesn’t excite you. Besides, if you’re a bit of a gearhead, the Evanora-inspired chassis is sure to enchant, while providing this strange balance between comfort, support, and air flow so that your mouse doesn’t become greasy due to ‘sweaty palm syndrome’
